It's a Paddle Party!
The Sister at Heart Celebration

Saturday, August 2, 2008

Dragonheart Vermont invites your team to join us on beautiful Lake Champlain for a weekend of paddling fun. Lucky us to get to share time together in Burlington again this year for our Sisters at Heart Celebration. It’s a weekend packed with paddling, singing, racing, eating, laughing, and more. It’s especially for breast cancer survivor dragon boat teams like yours. Don’t miss out on the fun!

Cost:

$80 USD per person for the entire weekend.

This price includes a Paddling Workshop, a Stretching Workshop, a Sing-Along Workshop, lunch, a lake cruise, a 500-meter race, ice cream, two 500-meter races at the community festival, a festival T-shirt, a medal for festival participation, and a chance to vie for the BCBCVT Sisters at Heart Challenge Cup. It’s a bargain!

This year teams need to complete only one registration form for the weekend. It is an online registration/payment system. There is an $80 USD per person weekend charge, but you must register as a team to hold your space. We are limited to the first 15 teams who have paid their weekend fees and completed their team registration. Our space is limited, so don’t delay.

Register today!

We have planned another perfect weekend for you. This year we will expand to include 15 dragon boat teams. To do so, we will divide into three groups. On Saturday morning, there will be a Power Up Paddling Workshop put on by the experienced and delightful crew of Montreal’s 22Dragons. You will

be sure to pick up some new paddling tips and enjoy the change of coaching perspective. We are so thrilled to be able to offer you a special In the Pink Stretch Workshop led by none other than the favorite Pied Piper of stretching — Kevin Kwan from Kwantum Wellness out of Edmonton, Canada. Many of you already know Kevin from the GWN Florida Dragon Boat Camp and our festival last year. He is incomparably positive, talented, and entertaining. Who else could take Therabands and balloons and make stretching fun? We also have our Sisters Sing-Along Workshop. An a capella group called The Meter Maids will entertain and engage you in song. After a busy morning, we will be ready to enjoy a yummy lunch together as we cruise around the lake on board The Spirit of Ethan Allen. Next up is a group photo to capture the joy of the day. Like last year, Coach John will mix and match the crews to carry out our Sisters Friendship Races. Finally, it’s a Vermont ending to the perfect day — Ben & Jerry’s ice cream. What remains of the afternoon and evening is yours to enjoy as you like. Relax at your hotel. Take a walk along the waterfront and watch the sunset. Shop on Church Street. Dine at any of Burlington’s fine restaurants. Take in and enjoy our beautiful city.

On Sunday, the breast cancer survivor teams will be the honored guests at our Lake Champlain Dragon Boat Festival. The spotlight will be on the breast cancer survivor teams as they race in their own division in our community festival. The breast cancer teams will kick off the races early at 7:30 am (7:00 am marshalling). The Sisters at Heart Challenge Cup and Flower Ceremony sponsored by Blue Cross/Blue Shield of Vermont (BCBSVT) will be held around noon. It is one of the highlights of the day. After the presentation of the Challenge Cup and Spirit Award winners, teams are able to enjoy the rest of the races, do some shopping, or begin your journey home.
