Festival FAQs

When is the Festival?

2010_2_a_vi_questions_1876clrThe 2012 Lake Champlain Dragon Boat Festival will be held on Sunday August 5, 2012 from 8am to 5pm. It's a day filled with dragon boat racing, spirit, music, dance, food, and fun. Get ready for community teams and  breast cancer survivor teams to paddle their hearts out for charity.  All our events are alcohol free and smoke free.

Why is the Festival held?

The Lake Champlain Dragon Boat Festival is all about the community coming together to raise money for charity. In these tough economic times we all need to reach deep in our hearts to support the people in our community who really need our help. This year Dragonheart Vermont is raising money to support Suriviorship NOW. Surivorship NOW provides cancer survivors with resources, tools, and support to enhance their recovery after their medical treatment is completed.

Who Benefits from the Festival Proceeds?

The money raised from the Festival will provide support for—Dragonheart Vermont and Survivorship NOW. Dragonheart Vermont is a breast cancer survivor and supporter dragon boat organization that carries on yearlong programs to support and empower breast cancer survivors. We also pride ourselves on the importance of breast cancer awareness and community-giving. The focus of this year's fundraising is our Survivorship NOW Initiative. It offers wellness programs to support, educate, and invigorate cancer survivors in our community.  100% of the donations raised from the Lake Champlain Dragon Boat Festival will stay in our community and benefit cancer survivors in our area. Half of the money will support Dragonheart Vermont programming. Half of the money will support Survivorship NOW programming.  Dragonheart Vermont is registered as a 501(c)3 nonprofit corporation.
