Dragonheart Vermont

We are Dragonheart Vermont, members of the Vermont's only dragon boat team. We are proud to introduce Vermonters to the paddling sport of dragon boating. We are proud to have four teams of breast cancer survivors. The diagnosis of breast cancer has brought us together. We have created a treasured sisterhood to provide support and encouragement to others. Dragonheart Vermont offers an active, health-giving, life-affirming option for breast cancer survivors. We are a support group where the focus is on living, rather than on the disease. We are paddling our way to recovery. Dragonheart Vermont is lucky to also have two women’s teams and two mixed boat teams.

Founded by Linda Dyer (a 15-year breast cancer survivor) and John Dyer (Vermont Technical College's Athletic Director/Men's Basketball Coach) in 2004, Dragonheart Vermont has grown into a 175+ organization of supporters, family, partners, friends, and paddling enthusiasts. Our Dragonheart teams have competed in races in Vancouver, Montreal, Sherbrooke, Newport, and Boston.
Last year our breast cancer survivor team traveled down under to Australia to be one of 74 breast cancer survivor teams participating in an all-breast cancer dragon boat event called Abreast in Australia 2007. Crikey! It was so exciting.
